SOFRO is an acronym for SOaps From Reclaimed Oil. SOFRO soaps are cold and hot process soaps made using the usual oils [coconut, olive, almond, etc] in addition to reclaimed oil from fryers. Yes, you read that right! The same oil your fries were cooked in. Using the same cleaning technology as Biodiesel; the oil is squeaky-clean before becoming soap. So rest assure, you'll never find a French fry in your soap. At SOFRO Soaps, we use biodegradable and recyclable packaging to minimize the impact on the environment. I am a trained environmental scientist. My day job is to tackle various environmental problems in my city. In 2005, I was working in wastewater problems; one of the biggest being, the oil that people flush down the drain. On the other hand, I have been a soap maker since 1998. Put those two things together and the idea of using reclaimed cooking oils to make soap was born. I have been making SOFRO soaps for about 15 years. I think I have it down to a science. Everyone who has tried my soaps, love them. I hope you will too. They are good for your skin and good for the environment!
